About
"Great photography is about depth of feeling, not depth of field" - Peter Adams
I have loved photography for most of my life, from the days of film and slide through to today's digital world. It is only since I retired in 2014 that I have had more time to devote to my passion, including going to evening classes to develop my photoshop skills. I use Lightroom and Photoshop to organise and edit all of my work. I currently use Nikon D750 and Nikon D600 full frame cameras with Nikon 24-70mm f2.8, 70-200mm f2.8, 50mm f1.8 and 105mm f2.8 lenses. My favourite genres of photography are landscape and travel - my wife, Sylvia, and I love to travel and we have been lucky enough to visit many places around the world, and my portfolio reflects the sights and experiences we have had. We also enjoy exploring the United Kingdom, our home country, with Northumberland, Wales and the Lake District being particular favourites of ours.
I joined The South Manchester Camera Club in November 2015 to meet like minded people, help develop my skills and get honest feedback from my peer group. I have really enjoyed the varied talks from professional, semi professional and very good amateur photographers, entered the Club's monthly competitions and joined a number of day and weekend outings with club members. I have also started to enter images into national exhibitions around the country, part of the British Photographic Exhibition circuit. View my blog to see what successes I have had in all these competitions so far.
